আসছে চালকবিহীন ট্রাক || Coming driverless truck

ডাইমলারের এক্সিকিউটিভ কর্মকর্তা উলফগ্যাং বার্নহার্ড জানিয়েছেন, আগামী কয়েক সপ্তাহের ভেতরেই তাঁরা জার্মানির রাস্তায় ট্রাকটি চালানোর অনুমোদন পাওয়ার ব্যাপারে আশাবাদী। গত মে মাস থেকেই যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের নেভাদা অঙ্গরাজ্যে পরীক্ষামূলকভাবে ট্রাকটি চালানো হচ্ছে। এখন এটি সরাসরি রাস্তায় নামা শুধু সময়ের ব্যাপার। এরই মধ্যেই জার্মানির একটি টেস্ট সার্কিটে প্রায় ১০ হাজার মাইল চালানো হয়েছে ট্রাকটি। বার্নহার্ডের মতে, প্রচলিত ট্রাকের থেকে বহুগুণে নিরাপদ হবে ডাইমলারের এসব ট্রাক।

ডাইমলারের নিজস্ব ‘ইন্টেলিজেন্ট হাইওয়ে পাইলট সিস্টেম’ এর মাধ্যমে একটি কম্পিউটার এই ট্রাক নিয়ন্ত্রণ করবে বলে জানিয়েছেন ওই কর্মকর্তা। অবশ্য বাড়তি নিরাপত্তা হিসেবে একজন সার্বক্ষণিক চালকও ট্রাকে উপস্থিত থাকবেন।

লেজার রশ্মি, রাডার আর ক্যামেরার মাধ্যমে ট্রাকটি রাস্তায় যানবাহন বা অন্যান্য বস্তুর উপস্থিতি নির্ণয় করে চলবে। কম্পিউটার নিজেই ট্রাকের গতি, ব্রেক বা ইমার্জেন্সি ব্রেকের ব্যাপারগুলি নিয়ন্ত্রণ করবে। এ ধরনের ট্রাক সড়ক দুর্ঘটনার হার কমাবে বলেও আশাবাদী কর্মকর্তারা। ইতোমধ্যেই পরীক্ষায় দেখা গিয়েছে প্রচলিত ট্রাক চালকদের থেকে এরকম স্বয়ংক্রিয় ট্রাকের চালকেরা বেশি নির্ভার আর সজীব থাকেন।
